I create Look Books for my clients as well as personally shop with them to complete their wardrobes and help them dress for their body type. I am studying abroad in Paris this summer! I will be studying fashion at one of the best fashion schools in Paris! I give God all the glory for these passions and talents that I thrive on!

Une Promenade
Bonjour! Today I got up and went to class, where we all got better acquainted with each other. Our teacher asked us why we got into fashion and what inspires us. He was impressed that I had worked as a stylist and that I knew how to sew. Them we had a lunch break. I am been eating in my room and packing my lunch in order to save money. I found the smallest jar of peanut butter at the store and swooped on it! I had a Pb&j for lunch today. I also bought some fruit and canned and frozen veggies and I am staying away from all other veggies just in case they have e coli. Tonight I am making an entire dress out of french newspapers for homework. And we went to a thrift store today to buy something to tear apart and make into something new for tomorrows class. I also have to design something tribal inspired and do a photo shoot for it! We have been doing a lot of walking so I haven't had any time or energy to go for run yet. I was going to tonight but now I have homework to do. I was at a modern art museum today and a man on the street pointed at me and loudly told his friend to look at how fashionable I was haha! I thought that was really cool that a Parisian thought I was fashionable! I turned to him and said Merci! Anyway, my Internet is still not working so I am in the labs and I have some research to do on Heidi Klum and tribal ceremonies haha I will try to talk to you soon. Love you have a good day! Tuesday June 7th
Bonjour everyone!
I asked about my Internet today and they haven't started to fix it yet so I told them to please hurry. Today we had our first day of class at Mod'Art. It is such a cool school they have a room full of mannequins and work rooms. We went over all of the guidelines for the class and I am so excited to get started on the projects. We will have to style models and take them around Paris to do different photo shoots and we aren't allowed to just tourist spots. Then we had a guest speaker who is a very accomplished man in the fashion world. He has been the president of many companies such as Dior and Louis Vuitton! He lectured for about an hour and I took a lot of notes. We are going to get some art supplies today, I already brought all of mine with me so I probably wont need to buy anything which is nice. We are also going to a thrift store to get some items for the photo shoots and then to a famous street full of couture stores in Paris. Tonight we will be attending the Mod'Art fashion show. We are taking the metro there and we were told to dress up! I am so excited to go to my first live fashion show in Paris!!!! I have realized that this class schedule is going to be a lot of work but it is work that I am really excited to get started on and have in later years for my portfolio! I am one of the only fashion design students here most of the others are fashion merchandising so they want to work in the business side of fashion. I found that really interesting and I am thinking that they will not like these projects as much as I will :) I am on my lunch break right now, before we go out shopping. I have been waking up in the night at about 2 to 3 every night wide awake, I guess I am not really on Paris time yet! It has been raining here all day but I have a very cute umbrella with me and I packed warm clothes so it doesn't really bother me. Anyway that is about everything that is going on today! I miss you all and will hopefully get to talk to you soon! Please pray that they will fix my Internet and phone asap or else I am going to turn into the mooch that uses all of my new friends technology :) Au Revior!
I Made It!!! June 5th 2011 Sunday
I made it to Paris! I am all unpacked and have already taken a nap! My room is wonderful and has the best view I could have asked for! I dont have internet in my room yet but they said that they will teach us how to set it up tonight so hopefully that will work. Right now I am in the computer lab which is really nice and full of desktop macs. So I will check my emails and stuff here until I get internet in my room. I met a nice friend on the airplane that was traveling to Bangladesh and when I got off I got my luggage and made it to the train station all by myself! I was really proud I took the train but there was an unexpected transfer, I was sitting with these two men that used to live in India but have lived in France for 9 years. They picked up my bag and helped me get to my next train which was sooo helpful otherwise I would have been really lost. I made it to my train stop and had to transfer to the metro, and then I did about two large laps around the whole neighborhood with all of my luggage before I could find my apartment! I was so sweaty and I had to ask a lot of french people for directions. I met a friend on the trip named Lindsey she is from Michigan, and so is my roommate Elise. When I finally got to my room I unpacked everything and took a shower. I got out of the shower and laid down for about three hours. I am a little emotional and tired because I haven't really had a good nights sleep but I plan on it in about 5 hours haha. We are all meeting in an hour for a walking tour of the neighborhood which I feel like I already know by heart from all my aimless walking around. I really miss you all but I am so excited for my time here and to see what plans God has in store for me. Please pray that I will get rest and fully enjoy every second I have here! I LOVE you all and I miss you already!!! Love, Kelsey

And the countdown begins!!!!
There are only two days left until I board that super early flight to Paris! I will be stopping over in New York for a few hours which is super exciting in itself for me, I have always wanted to visit New York and I thought it was crazy that I would be going to Paris before I have ever set foot in New York...well I guess I can't say that now :) Even though I will only be there for a couple of hours it still counts! I decided to start packing today. I am only bringing one suitcase but don't feel too bad for it is about the size of my little brother. I got all of my plane ticket info, and directions to my apartment in order, all thats left to pack is the wardrobe which should be an interesting task. I have been told that Parisian do not wear jeans which immediately limited my wardrobe. I late found out that they just don't wear jeans that are faded or have holes. The are more in to the Miss Me jean look with some heels. So as long as I dress everything I have up a little I think I should be fine. I pulled out all of my french notes from this past school year and looked over everything I had learned. I really hope that it will all just come rushing back to me. I have realized that I am much more confident at speaking french when it is in my head or to someone who has no idea what I am saying to them!
I was planning on bringing a lot of reading materials with me, but them I realized how bulky that was going to get. So I completed one of the books I was going to bring and I have discovered that I can buy the rest of the ones I want to read on my iPad! That thing is so handy to have around :)
I was going over my course materials today and I tried to round up everything I will be needed for class. I pretty much packed my whole sewing box, complete with pins, zippers, buttons, thread, spare fabric, and fabric scissors. I am excited to see what the professors have planned for us :) I have been told that we get to go on a lot of "field trips" to business within the industry to see how things in the fashion world are really done.
And the packing continues....

Grass Roots fashion show- April 2011
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support my Grass Roots line in this years annual Point Loma Fashion Show! It was a great success! I was so proud of every dress and every model that I showed. It was an amazing night of art fashion and good friends. I showed six different dresses all created with natural earth tones. I wanted a very earthy feel for this years show and I think I achieved that! The dresses really speak for themselves so take a look and let me know what you think!!!! Thanks again so much for all of the inspiration and support. (Check out my facebook album for more pictures)
Almost There! 5/22/11
I have been on summer vacation for about a week now. I am not really that good with relaxing and taking it easy. I have been preparing for my Paris study abroad trip as much as possible, making sure I have everything I need before I go. I have found out that I will be living in my own apartment with a roommate that I have not met yet. I will be living in the Bastille District which I hear is kind of like a downtown area. I am so excited to discover the city and go on jogs around it! I will be using this blog to keep everyone updated on all of my adventures and thoughts while I am abroad. Thanks to everyone that is loving and supporting me! -Kelsey
