Yesterday I started off by going to this Marche en plein air, which is like a farmers market. The next theme for our photoshoots was food, so we had to style with something edible. I knew that most people would go straight for the candy because that is really popular these days thanks to Juicy Couture. I wanted to do something completely different. I was inspired by all of the hats seen at the royal wedding. I decided to design a hat made of vegetables! So at the market I got a head of lettuce, and artichoke, radishes, and cilantro. I was excited to start working on this project. I wanted the lettuce to be the main hat part that I would attach to the headband I had and the artichoke to be the flower and the cilantro and raddishes would be decoration. Once I started working I realized that the artichoke alone was way to heavy to ever balance on my head! So instead I just decorated the artichoke as a type of bouquet. It turned out really nice too! After class we had a trip to a park that was build for the world fair. It was an amazing place, the only downer was I was stuck carrying my fragile raddish up and down all of the hills of the park! When we got home I changed and my friends and I walked over to these beautiful botanical gardens right up the street from our apartments, and took the final photoshoot. I was so glad to finally be done with that shoot, it seemed to take the whole day to prepare and shoot for it. I didnt just want to throw away this artichoke that I had worked so hard on so I sneakily hid it in a bed of flowers that kind of looked like my little edible arrangement! I can't wait until one of the gardeners finds it! Anyway here are the pictures from that shoot!
